Value Star Asset Management Ltd is a Cayman registered investment management company specializing in asset management mainly of the mainland China companies. It has branch offices in Hong Kong and Beijing with a team of fourteen professionals. Value Star Asset Management Hong Kong Limited is licensed by the Hong Kong SFC to carry out asset management activities(Type 9).
Our mission is to capture the investment opportunities presented in the fast growing Chinese economy. Our objective is to provide superior long-term absolute return investing in Chinese companies with best quality of client services.
Our business philosophy is to grow our business along with our business partners including investors, service providers as well as our people.
Management Team
Xie Xuefeng
CEO & CIO
Xie Xuefeng has over 15 years of experience in portfolio management. Prior to co-founding Value Star Asset Management with Gary Wang in 2005, Andy Xie founded YDF Investment Co. in 2000 and assumed CEO/CIO role until 2005. During 1997-2000, he was CIO at Highwin Investment Co., a local asset management company in China.He also served as Head of Proprietary Trading Department during his tenure at J&A Securities Co. (one of the leading securities firms in China and now merged with GuoTai Securities Co. as Guotai Junan Securities Co.) from 1992 to 1997. Xie started his career from the People’s Bank of China (the central bank of PRC) in 1990. He holds a Bachelor degree from University of Science and Technology of China.
Dr. Liu Bin
Head of Research
Dr. Liu Bin has over 6 years’ experience in investment field. Prior to joining Value Star Asset Management, in 2007- 2009 he was Writing Analyst of Macquarie Capital Securities. Based in Hong Kong and Shanghai, he covered China’s industrial, machinery and renewable energy sectors. During 2006 – 2007 he was Equity Research Analyst of Invest4profit in Australia covered telecommunication and internet companies. During 2002- 2005 he was Head of International Investment in the Investment Division of ZTE Corporation, China. His job duties focused on evaluating investment projects on telecommunication service sector in overseas. Dr. Liu holds a Ph.D in Applied Mathematics from University of Wollongong, Australia, Master in Applied Finance and Investment from Securities Institution of Australia, Master of Science in Mathematics from University of Wollongong, Australia and Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from Zhejiang University, China.
Elaine Chan
Dealing & Settlement
Ms. Chan has over 20 years of experience in asset management field. Prior to joining Value Star Asset Management, she was a Senior Manager in Client Servicing of Credit Agricole Asset Management, where she has worked for 17 years. She served as a Funding Clerk at N.M. Rothschild & Sons (HK) Ltd from 1984 to 1987.

We would like to announce that in March 2009, Mr. Hu Xiaohui will join us focusing on business development. Most recently, Mr Hu was Vice Chairman, CEO, of a Hong Kong listed company, in charge of investment and investor relationship.
Frank Wang left the company in Mar.2009,we are grateful for his great contribution in the past several years.
April of 2008, Value Star Asset Management (HK) Ltd received the license to carry on Type 9 regulated activity (asset management) under the Securities and Futures Ordinance.
September of 2007, Xie Xuefeng & Frank Wang went to Chicago, New York, London, Geneva, Zurich for its first global roadshow.
August of 2007, Value Star Asset Management (BJ) Ltd has moved from China Life Tower to China View Plaza.
June of 2007, Frank Wang joined the company from Rasini & Co. (a global fund of hedge funds with AUM of $1.5 bn).
April of 2007, Xie Xuefeng (CEO & CIO) interviewed with EurekaHedge.
November of 2005, ¡°China Today Growth Fund¡± was launched.
March of 2005, Value Star Asset Management Ltd was incorporated in the Cayman Islands.
